History:
About 540:   St Cybi founds a clas and a church within the precincts of an abandoned Roman fort
10th cent.:   Sacked during a Viking raid
13th cent.:   Construction of the present church starts, with the chancel remaining from this period
15th cent.:   (and 16th cent.) Church completed in its present form, mainly of the Perpendicular style
1405:   Church damaged by Henry IV’s troops during his campaign against Owain Glyndŵr
17th cent.:   Systematical destruction of interior windows, tombs and statues by Cromwell’s troops
1897:   Addition of a Victorian chapel to the south (architect Hamo Thornycroft)
2019:   Renovations of the stonework planned
