Noteworthy
  • Tombstone from the 5th or 6th cent. (discovered 1865), inscribed “ALIORTUS ELMETIACO(S) / HIC IACET” (“here lies Aliortus a man of Elmett”), indicating the possibility of an early Christian site predating Llanaelhaearn

7th cent.:   Legendary foundation of Llanaelhaearn (“the church of Aelhaearn”) by St Beuno, who gave it into the care of Aelhaearn
12th cent.:   (or early 13th cent.) Construction of nave and chancel
16th cent.:   (or 17th cent.) Construction of the transept
1892:   Enlargement of the chancel and refurbishment of the whole church
