1549:   Demolition of the predecessor church
1711:   Nomination of a commission by Parliament in the “Act of the 50 New Churches”, tasked to build new churches for the rapidly growing city; one of its members is James Gibbs, who was commissioned to build St Mary le Strand, his first public building
1714:   Construction starts (architect James Gibbs)
Sep 1717:   Completion of the tower, showing the influence of Christopher Wren
1723:   Completion of the church
1724:   Consecration
1982:   Chosen as the official church of the Women’s Royal Naval Service (WRNS), the Women’s Royal Naval Reserve and the Association of Wrens
28/10/1984:   The WRNS Book of Remembrance is transferred to the church from the Royal Naval College (Greenwich)
